Igoumenitza – Bari by boat

We arrived Bari early in the morning. Bari is a bit more north than Brindisi where we sailed from on the way to Greece. I have seen Bari on the map for many years, since I had a penfriend from there when I was 14-15 years old. It was that time we still wrote letters with a pen and sent them by post. Do you remember?

Bari looked like a nice city but we did`nt had time to stop there

We had a stop at a fuelstation for breakfast. It was difficult to choose what to eat, so much delicious food!

Sirmione – Lago de Garda

We arrived Sirmione in the afternoon. Sirmione is a beautiful city in Lago de Garda with around 8000 inhabitants. The old town is actually on a small island and you have to cross a bridge to come into town. We stayed in an airbnb apartment on the main land, it was a 3 km walk from the apartment to the bridge. You can walk along the lake almost all the way.

It is two things you have to eat in Italy – pizza and icecream!! This was amazing

We had a walk to the north of the island, and we would have had more time here. But it started to get dark and it was time for dinner!

And whatelse than a pizza?? It was very good but I ate only 1/3 of it. Rest of it was lunch the day after!

After a good night sleep we went to another beautiful town. We decided to drive along the Lago de Garda, because we believed it was nicer than the highway. And of course we were right! What an amazing place!

It was early in the morning and not that many people around. We bought some nice Italian breakfast in this restaurant.

The other stop was Garda, another beautiful place.

I really wish we could have more time in this area. So many nice spots, nice food and it is possible to do some shopping…

In the north of Lake de Garda the mountains getting higher and higher.

We decided to drive up the valley here instead of going to the right to the highway. And yes, it is a lot of kids sailing on the lake.

From Bolzano to Brenner Pass it was too boring. I have`nt seen so many trucks in one time. We actually dont know what the problem was, we thought it was a car accident but we did`nt see anything. So it was maybe only to much traffic.

Austria

In Austria we went through Innsbruck. Or mostly outside the city… we have a too old car to get allowed to drive into the city.

On the way north we went more west than on the way south. We took the Fernpass. An amazing place!

There is a restaurant, but it was closed, due to covid or low season. And it was cold…

Germany

After a while we came into Germany and the landscape changed into no mountains and green fields. We went to the small town Gerstetten where we stayed in an airbnb apartment.
